Our winemaker was surprised by this Conventual Reserva Vinha da Serra da Penha 2014.
The old vines from the poor granite and quartz soils of Serra da Penha show plenty vivacity and complexity, which can be attested in the complex and fresh nose with notes of cassis, mint, slight peppery notes and floral hints.
In the mouth it has structure and is fresh with fine tannins well present and with all the aromatic complexity extending to the long finish.
If the already acclaimed wines from Adega de Portalegre Winery were proof of quality in the Alto Alentejo, Portalegre DOC region, then this Reserva Vinha da Serra put an end to the discussion. Winner of the 2017 Berliner Wein Trophy gold medal, this is a wine that will always surprise.
Alcohol content of 13.5%.
